Learn what we’re doing to keep families safe in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our highest priority at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is always the safety of our families, community and associates. We are aware of the uncertainty with the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), and some of its effects around the world and in the USA. Our staff is closely monitoring this evolving situation and are following the health guidance for funeral homes provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As a response to the latest information concerning the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Large Events and Mass Gatherings, we at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home are making every attempt to provide a safe environment for the community around us.

The CDC now recommends events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.

We understand during times of grief and loss, it is expected for family and friends to come together to offer comfort and support to one another. We are going to do everything we can to support you and your family during this difficult time. We feel it is extremely important to acknowledge that someone we love has died. Funerals or Memorial Services allow us to say goodbye. Funerals offer continuity and hope for the living and provide a support system for us, friends, family members and the community.

In order to carry out your loved one’s last wishes and comply with the CDC’s current recommendations we are implementing a few changes.

We will offer Webcasting/ Live streaming of services for those individuals not in attendance. The banquet room will be unavailable until further notice to comply with social distancing.

We can also provide the ability to make virtual arrangements if this would be more comfortable for your family.

In addition, we are making sure our facilities are cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.

Please keep these suggested guidelines in mind when attending a visitation and/or service at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home.

These include:

  • Face coverings are mandatory in the state of Ohio.
  • Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Maintain the recommended distance of six feet between you and the person next to you.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily. Handshakes and hugs are often exchanged at Visitations and Funerals, and these can be ways in which COVID-19 can be transmitted from person to person.

We hope everyone will understand the reason for this temporary, yet difficult change.

We are going to do everything we can to support you and your family during this time to honor your loved one and try to reduce the spread of COVID-19.We understand “Social Distancing” is extremely difficult when a death occurs. Handshakes and hugs are a part of our daily routine. This is very difficult and a huge change for us all. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas to help us along in this process, please let us know. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to call us at 740-894-4321 or email us at info@slackandwallace.com.

Thank you for understanding and your continued love and support for Slack and Wallace Funeral Home.

Sincerely,
